Hanke is geboren in Apeldoorn en heeft vervolgens in Utrecht gestudeerd. Zij volgde de studies recht, bestuur en management en staats- en bestuursrecht. Na haar studies ging zij vanaf 2001 werken als senior beleidsmedewerker bij het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties.

Ihr Vater ist der CDA-Politiker Harm Bruins Slot. Bruins Solt absolvierte eine militärische Ausbildung an der Koninklijke Militaire Academie. Als Offizierin diente sie in den Niederländischen Streitkräften. An der Universität Utrecht studierte sie Rechtswissenschaften und Öffentliche Verwaltung. Seit 2010 ist Bruins Slot als offen homosexuelle Abgeordnete für die Christen Democratisch Appèl in der Zweiten Kammer der Generalstaaten tätig.[1] Sie wohnt in Utrecht.
